Alright in my dads car for his system I added a toggle switch. Now what I did is, the remote con wire running from the HU to the amp, I cut that. Then I put 1 end that i cut on the Power of the toggle switch, then the other end to the ACC on the toggle switch. Now when I switch it, it powers off, then when I switch it back it powers on. It works fine, but will this hurt the amp or anything over time? I plan on doing some toggle switches myself later on. I just want to make sure cutting the remote con wire and doing that will be alright. thanks in advance

I also have my amps hooked up with a switch and they have been fine, you might want to fuse the remote wire to protect the system from any shorts.

it shouldn't hurt it at all. as long as you have a good clean connection and it is getting the signal it should be all right. i have done that as well and it has been working fine, even ghetto rigged, which i plan on redoing soon, for the past 4 years.

why would you need a fuse when the original wire doesnt have one?
