If it has the RDS (stupid crap GM came up with), and it probably does, you will need to get the RDS T harness from Circuit City(I think they have it) and relocate the factory radio elsewhere in the vehicle while putting the new radio in the dash. The Factory radio needs to keep the power and buss connection with the other electronics in the vehicle to retain the functions. Otherwise a lot of small things might quit working right.

The shop that installed my last system told me you just need the right wiring harnesses and that you do not have to keep the factory HU. I have heard that it is easier to replace the radio if you don't have Onstar, but I'm not sure. Hope it isn't too hard to deal with though, since I should be taking delivery of a new Envoy this week and it has Onstar. Keep us posted if you do the swap. Also I'd be interested in how the TB/Envoy's electrical system interferes with other upgrades (if at all). I'd suggest you look at TB installs on SoundDomain and CarDomain. Ask around there and you can talk to people that have done this swap.

If you have onstar there is a module that you have to buy, can't remember the part #, but it's around 100 bucks. In most cases you don't have to leave the factory radio, but in some you do. If you ask your question in the General Audio forum, you'll probably get a response from someone who knows.

In some of the '02 Pontiacs etc. you have to relocate the factory unit. Things such as the airbags are affected. Mostly the ones with the Monsoon sound system, I think......don't quote me on that, I guess my point is make good and sure before doing it!
