I am going to build a hinged floor for my trunk, and i was thinking of MDF,,,then someone proposed plywood as cheaper and better able to hold screws, and stronger in the corners. Then someone suggested MASONITE,,,Its gotta be heavy enough to be able to be used as an anchor for me to screw amp racks or any mods in presentation i may have..

What kind of material is masonite and where do I find it?

masonite is a type of hardboard. I've used it omn a couple custom installs. it seems to work pretty good. Alot of peg boards are made of masonite. You know, the dark brown board w/ all the little holes in it. You can find it in any lumber yard>

Great to use for areas like yours. You will need to reinforce it if it spans a large distance since it is thin and I also use a backing for my screws. You can use another piece of wood under it where the screws are or use the metal screw backers that can be found at most car audio shops for necct to nothing.
