Are the QLogic QForms ok, or should I go and get custom ones built for me? I'm going to put my Diamond Audio M5 Series 6.5 inch comps. in them, and am looking for not only the best cost-efficient option, but the best overall option. By the way, They are going in a 94 Ford Taurus.

First off, the 6.5 components aren't going to fit in the Qforms. They only go up to 5.25s. If you can go with the 5.25s though they are a great investment, Qlogic spends tons of time and money researching the best imaging for the particular vehicle.

The problem with Qlogic is that the kicks are just too thin, Build your own, Its a lil time consuming, but saves you money to upgrade other areas of you stereo. Remember, a penny saved is another penny to blow on your stereo!

Forget Q-Logic. They're a GENERAL solution to proper speaker aiming. While they might have spent tons of money into research, they're NOT designed for EVERY possible speaker that could be installed in a vehicle. Every speaker has a different on and off axis response. This is why it's very important to get the proper angles before building kicks. Not to mention that Q-Logics are expensive enough for you to experiment building your own and fail a few times for much less of the cost of a set.

If you do end up going with q-forms you should reinforce them, as well add some type of dampening. I had a set for my Jeep and after using Dynamat and some Fiberglass I got a lot better midbass out of them.

If you do go with Q-Forms be sure to do like someone else said and reinforce them, I used 1/2" of modeling clay on mine, and I only went with the q-forms because I got a really good deal on them. But i would go with making your own.

The problem with Q-logic kicks is they are cheap plastic. Yes, they are designed for 5-1/4" speakers max but they aren't sealed. They have an open back which lets your midbass escape. You might be Ok if you deaden them with glass and a Dynamat type material buy you would be much better off building your own. I totally agree with GlasSman.

i have the same component set you do and i just ordered my q-logic kickpanels(still waiting for them). i agree they are flimsy but i plan on reinforcing them with a layer or 2 of glass.
straight from their site:

I got a great deal on my q-logics, so I bought them and reinforced them with dynamat on the back and cut the floor carpet out and side panel stuff and dynamatted that also so its a dynamat "box" basically. Worked out very well and they have alot more midbass than when they were regular. Also, I had no problem fitting a 6 1/2 comp set.
