i all ready have some older kenwood 8's that will work for now. i think im going to strip apart my doors this weekend and make a new spacer/ baffle deal that fits inside the doors so i dont have to make a custom grill. this is all going into a '95 camry american ed. .i have a bit of room, but i need to center it perfectly so that i can roll my windows down and leave enough space so the woofer dosent hit the grill. with the 8" in there i should have 1"-1.5" to play with. any ideas on the spacer i need to make? any pics?

i was thinking. how about some 8" pvc? i could use some sealant, smaller screws w/ waashers and a toilet flange (or somthing close) to mount it to the door. think that would work?

I can't give you any technical tips (shop install) on what to do other than to build a pod ontop of the doors to mount the 8s. I used a pair of Kicker RMB8s in my front doors. The stock door mounts accepted shallow 5.25"s, now there are 8s mounted.

Not sure what a shop would charge. I do all my work myself. In total there is probably 75-100bux worth of materials used. I am looking to get rid of mine, if anyone is interested.

I have illusion audio 8's in the doors of my neon, they fit well with window clearence and didn't have to modify the door panel that much just to let sound out. They have the magnets in the front, relatively cheap 250 I think I paid.

a common thing is to use a mdf ring as a spacer. the only problem is u will prolly have to make the spacer in only 1/4' incriments (sp?). good luck.
