I got a set of BostonAcoustic 6.5 pro's installed at tweeter, and among themany things I am unhappy about the fact that they did was installing the crossover in the door between the vapor barrier and the door panel. I have heard this is a really bad sloppy practice. Is that true, or is it seen a lot in higher end installs? I am kind of new to this.

I have to rip the door apart to check, but I think they did this because they tied in the cables from my amp to the factory cable behind the radio. I think it was "too hard" to run new cable to through the door. So they just spliced into the stock cable with the cable I bought, then put the stock cable on the IN on the xover. From there used more of the cable I payed them for to go to the speakers. Seems like a freakin waste of 70 cents a foot no? Isnt my signal only as good as honda factory wire at this point?

If this is the case, how pissed should I be, anything I can do? I went to another install shop to see if I can have them just run new speaker cable, and they said they would want to redo the whole Amp install. The power and interconnects are fine though, I dont want to pay for this all over again.

Wish I had the time, and facilities to take the car apart on my own. With 3 kids, loosing a sat afternoon, or worse a whole weekend day, thats a lot of time. Hence the reason for having someone else do it.

sounds like the installer is making commision, like spyder said. which sucks for, because all this installer or shop cared about was getting your money and as quick as possible finish it to get money from someone else. if they had the door apart it would have been stupid easy for them to just run new cable out of the doors and to wherever the wires hooked up.
