Hey, I am about to redo my install and I wanted to know how people float or suspend their amps? Do they use metal bars and just try to hide them behing the amps? Can some caps be floated using the same technique? And how do you hide the wires that are going to the amp?

If metal bars are used, where can these be purchased and how thick should they be?

Any pictures and help would be appreciated, thanks!

In my last car, I just made the amp rack with white melamine and made blocks the same color to suspend the amp off the rack. I then took off the bottom cover and soldered the wires directly to the printed circuit board from the bottom so no wires could be seen. This WILL void your warranty, so be careful! With the right lighting and a plexi cover the amp just seemed to hover there! It was pretty cool.

You could also use metal if you have welder accessible.. Make a flat steel piece for amp to mount on.. Same size as amp.. SLightly smaller so its not seen. Drill and tap holes for amp to mount to.. Then get piece of pipe (not galvanized due to fumes) and weld it to plate amp will mount on. Then make a flat piece of steel big enough to act as foot for amp bar and weld it to pipe amp backing is on.

Kinda like this pic... HAHA Wish I had some crayons handy.. LOL
