So I purchased a new bed and when they delivered it they took the old one but didnt want to take the frame.

I had this "L" frame laying around that I kept walking by as I was laying out my amps and stuff.

I finally took a closer look and decided it would be perfect to make a frame for the shelf I was thinking of making. So I went for it. I built a nice big one, in case of future expansion, and used 1/2" plywood that I upholstered front and back.

I'm very happy with it. Since it's so sturdy, I have it on brackets (again made out of the bed frame) so it can easily hinge down in case I need to work on it.

So if you're looking to build an amp rack for cheap thats not too ghetto (if you paint it and take some time on it), then look into using a bed frame that your can pick up really cheap at a resale store. It also makes great 90 deg brackets.
