K, so I am finally getting my Goldline RTA (it is in transit right now). I got a sound check CD with pink noise and other associated noises and beeps, LOL... How do I make the most out of the RTA? Do I set the EQ, deck tone controls and bass boost to 0 for starters? Windows up or down? Where and how to place the microphone? Do I leave the subs on or turn them down? Do I leave all channels playing or just the front? How do I do the actual tweaking?

Short version for SQ

place mic aproximately where your head is (driving seat).

Set all controls to zero

Play pink noise and watch meter.

If you have big dips on crosover points try changing polarity on speakers.

If you have Eq use it to flaten dips or peaks. Try also with amp gains and gains on HU (Bass , treble...)

Set everything that you have slight decline in loudnes from 20Hz - 20 kHz (20 Hz playing louder)

Than add as much bass as you like and keep curve smooth without big dips pr peaks.

Check also tech notes on www.audiocontrol.com
