I finally got my car back from the bodyshop, and am nearly done with the restoration part of my vehicle. All that is needed now is new interior carpet, dash cap and I am nearly on my way. Here is what I plan on doing for the install of the audio system though(the trunk area.)

1. Strip out all of the old carpetting inside the trunk. Most of it is nearly gone anyways, so it wont take too long anyways.
2. On the bottom of the sides of the interior of the trunk there were signs of minor rust starting. It was sanded down by the body shop, and the guy suggested to spray some rubberized undercoating to these areas to prevent any further deterioration. If there any other effective ways other than this, and should I coat only the certain areas or the all of the sides of the trunk wall? Or possibly spray some other sealant and then carpet the sides of the trunk?(need input on that idea)

3. Sand down/clean up the floor of the trunk to the best of my abilities.
sound deaden floor?)
4. The trunk lid is in good condition paintwise. Should I use expanding foam in the gaps to help aid in the deadening of the lid? Whats the cleanest way to do this to make it almost unnoticeable?
5. Amp rack. This is were im starting to debate my options. My amp rack and all other wiring is going to go behing the box where the floor starts to curve upwards and then go flat again(near the rear deck area, sorry hard to explain) I am going to make it all out of mdf, and it seems like it isnt going to be not that hard, one flat piece for the raised area, then one connecting curving on an angle downward. (1)1000d, kenwood 4 channel amp, and an eqx, along with all necessary wiring will be back here. I wanted to do it this way to make stealing any of the components extremely hard. They would in essence have to move the entire box to get to them.

(has anyone tried this idea?)
(best way to attach MDF, liquid nails?)

6. Carpetting floor. Final step, I dont think I will need to create a false floor. Speaker carpetting may be fine for this application, but their may be other things out there(?).

Just my first rough gameplan. I hope to get some input on if you think this is a good starting point for the install. If their is anything I missed please let me know. Sorry for the long rambling post.. [Smile]
