I will search on this tomorrow as well so don't flame me.

I have a ton of Stinger black strech vinyl now and am going to begin putting some on my amp rack. Any vinyl veterans have an hints and tips to applying it or any good write ups on working with vinyl?

Thanks in advance.

OK, I bought a heat gun and some clamps. I am covering a 1/8" piece of paneling that is my amp trim panel for teh surface mount. I plan to:
1. Heat up the vinyl
2. spray the wood and vinyl
3. Wait for it to get tacky
4. stretch the vinyly around the edges (The face is alreay done)
5. put two pieces of wood around the piece
6. use clamps to hold it in place
7. Let it dry.

How does that sound.

Cannot really use staples in the 1/8" wood for fear of them going though and if they do not go through there is really nothing for teh staple to stick to.

Any other prefered methods of wrapping thin sheets of wood with vinyl?

I have found the magic - Use hot glue gun and plain old glue sticks. Buy the cordless glue gun - it rocks!!

round the edges slightly, as not to be too sharp and cuts the vinyl,

fill in any holes with bondo on the wood, because when pulled tight it shows everything

when cutting an inside radius to be vinyled, slice a v shaped cut away from the radius. add about an 1/8" to the thickness of the wood and then start the "v" cut. that way when you fold the vinyl over of the inside radius, no cuts will be shown.

take your time.

easy on the heat.

and please pull the vinyl taunt, that way it won't look ridgy.

good luck, and use the force.
