Sorry to say I can't remember how I took mine off (2000 ranger). I know it was a bitch though, but you already found that out I think the top seatbelt bolt had to come out first, might be one at the bottom that goes along with that seat belt harness. From there it might have just been using the upholstery tool. I remember it was really on there tight, much more prying than most panels. Take your time and look for those panel poppers to get the tool under or you'll break the panel for sure. Sorry I coulnd't be more help.

well i got it out today, no tool needed for the actualy panel take off. when i got the panel off (from just ripping it out) all the things that hold the panel on were still in their holes so thats where the tool came into play. and there were 2 bolts that needed to be taken out, one up top, and a torx (t50) on the bottom. thank god i didnt break the panel. the hardest panel so far has been the back panel in the back of the read seats. even though there are only 7 popper things, it was a b*tch to get out. i had to pull as hard as i could to get them out. thanks for replying.

Go get an upholstrey remover from your locao auto store I got one to take my back panels off and it made it much easier to take off and you might need a flat head screwdriver as well to pop out the rubber lineing where the door shuts at. You didn't ahve to take out the seatbelt assembly at the bottom becsue the panel comes off with out doing that. Any ways you will need that tool to get the plugs off the door and put them back in there respected slots on the panel and make sure its all aligned and give it a few good pushes and bam your done.
Hope this helps. Its a bitch but got it done in 45 min. including replacing the speaker and putting the panels back on.
Let me know if i can be of any asstiance in the future I ahve pretty much taken off every piece in my 2000 ranger.
