Well it cant be the battery or the alt because why would it work if its off and not on? Probably a wiring problem.

we installed the amp into my car and no problems, the voltage when the car is running and in gear is around 11.8v or 12.1v No amp..

sometimes with the amp and if the car has been run for a long period the volts will come up to somewhere near 13.8v and 14.0v, with the head lights on amp on and running in gear the volts are about 11v 12v nerver seeing 13+,

as for the wireing we have the remote switched from the battery (POLICE Switch lol) 4Ga Power and ground, earthquake rca's there is also an Fultron 75x4watt amp running also and a crossover driving 2 15's (3000D) and 4 5x7's (Fultron)
if it was the wiring whats to check? and could it be the radio note this is the only amp that turns off

if your voltage at the battery with the car running is that low then you have a problem with your charging system. When a vehicle is running battery voltage should be at least 13.5 volts and no more than 16 volts

I agree. If your getting under 12 volts with the car running, there is something wrong with your charging system. I get 13.4 constantly with my car on. I have a 1988 Camaro w/ a 305 and 105 amp alternator. I recommend checking all your connections under the hood, and possibly upgrade your underhood wires to 4 gauge or bigger... like from alt to bat, bat to grnd, all that. Just my .02
