I'm looking into a new car (couple years down the line) and i was wondering what is the easiest manufacturer of cars to dissassemble their interior? I'm looking at Dodge Dakotas, ford focus (svt), GMC sonoma, chevy cavalier, chevy s-10, or maybe a blazer (xtreme) or jimmy. they're making the blazer xtremes for as long as they can sell them so buy em! (inside info from an engineer at gm) anyway, what manufacterer makes interiors the most install friendly?

i'm audio retarded, but i do know a good deal about neons...

Are we talking new cars here? I doubt you are in the market for an 88 F-150, but I just installed in one and there are NO screws holding in the molding around the CD player...just give it a little tug and you can access the wires behind the unit! It was amazing. Talk about a security risk though.

no screws holding in the molding on a Neon as the a$$holes that broke into it a month ago found out!! I hate Neons anyway and if you are waiting a few years maybe they will stop making them. I think Saturns are pretty easy to take apart no bitch clips on the doors just metal tabs that you can pull at.

Actually, I just heard this tonight from two different installers. The new Cavaliers are impossible to install a new stereo into. The stereo is connected to the Airbags and other stupid stuff. There is no way to take the factory head unit out of one and put in an aftermarket! This is just what I heard, but it's coming from a reliable source.

My brother said the same thing... they are so impossible to even do a cd-player exchange. I think they sent a guy with one somewhere else. He works at CC.

yeah and the pope is an alien.

you need to take it to a shop that knows what they are doing, unfortunately your in ohio also, so it's understandable where you come up with these crazy statements.

so go anywhere on the planet except ohio and it can be done. ohio lacks good installers. i thought i could find an install partner that knew what he was doing around here and be on the same page and same knowledge, now by know means am i know it all, and wish i had an ounce of talent like the ones from the west, but people say i am good!!!!!

anyways it can be done and easily at that. in fact www.soundgate.com is coming out with a new piece also for them.

good luck

A ****load of GM's have different things built into the head unit. There are re-location harnesses out there for these. Although they run about $60, Id rather do that then use some Line Out converters.

S10's, Sonomas and Blazers are all the same thing. Ive gotten 98+ S-Series down to like 20 mins total for a deck. Too easy. The doors arent that bad either. I think for the 01, maybe 00+ Neons, they added 2 screws to the dash bezel. Although, still no real theft deterrent. A ton of these newer cars are so easy (Dodge,Chevy, Ford) while some are still a bitch (Kia, Honda etc...).

Anyway, go S-Series over Dakota. Never buy Chrystler.

I'm not sure why you think there are no good installers in Ohio, JBONDOx, there's more than a few GREAT ones in the state, and many very good ones also.......

My best friend just bought a 95 neon sport. exactly how does the interior come apart? we tried a little tugging on the kick panels and they wouldn't budge. same with the door sills. i guess we could run wire up the center console and into the back under the carpet, but that would cause a lot of interference.... also, how does the headliner come out? we'll be doing a lot of neon work, so gotta figure out how to get at the prime mounting and wire running locations. if there's no screws, how do they get properly secured after taking them out? is it all pop screws?

You CAN put new radiod in the cavalers and all the new cars with the data bus system. i have put 7 of them in in the last few months and they still retain the airbags and door chime with the metra kit

Late 80's Toyota Celica's. There are only about 13 screws and bolts, and you have to take apart out the glove box, the underside of the dash on the drivers side, the speaker covers, the console, then the center dash, then 4 more bolts on the head unit. *Note the sarcasm here*

I would go for the Dakota or an F150. GM cars bite.

I have a 98 ford mustang and its ridiculously easy to take apart. There area a few screws holding the door panels on(which i took off and never put back in, and have had no problems), but everything else seems to snap off and then snap back on. Ive been told, and it seems to be a reasonable assumption that most fords are put together in a similar fashion.

I have a 96 Galant, and it is a BITCH to work on. I have a whole damn ziploc baggie full of a whole plethora of different size/shape screws... getting to the dash bezel ALONE was a mutha. The door panels are a NIGHTMARE. My 90 Taurus was a breeze. I wish I had fixed it instead of buying this damn Galant.

Corolla has to be the easiest car, everything just pulls off. Didnt try the doors, but they looked damned easy. The dash is easy, and door sills just pop off, along with the rear seat...just give it a good yank.

MESSAGE 4 BARELYGLOWIN........
neons r a cinch my friend. the door panels r as follows...... 1 screw in the inside of the handle (the part u put ure hand on 2 close the door). 1 screw on the other side)if u pull the opener and look inside ule see it). then put a hand on the bottom of the door(where the (POCKET)is) and tug or give it a quick jerk. the whole door will loosen up and then just lift up on the sill and off it comes. the kicks r also easy just take of the rubber gasket around the door and the molding that goes next 2 the seat. then give a nice tug on the kick towards the inside(pedals) and it will pop off. as for the headliner just remove the seal around the door and pull it down it will give u enough room 2 get ure hand up in there 2 work and if ure putting neons up there just use speed clips on the other side it will secure nicely.
