I was wondering if this would be possible - to make an enclosure that would be say 8" in the center and then taper out to say 2" inches on the sides with a diameter of 2 feet. I am trying to fit 10" in the doors of a small car - just behind the front seats of a small car like a civic. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

i don't see why not. it's going to take some practice with fiberglass. you are going to have to build a frame of some sorts to make the shape you want, and then glass it.
go into the tech section and read into the fiberglassing topic. there are a LOT of q&a's about how to go about things like this. Good luck!

Thanx - I was wondering about resonance, and those factors - I mean - will it the subs sound OK? I am sure that with this type of "sting-ray"/ fried egg enclosure I can get the volume - but will it sound ok?

as long as you have the right volume there isn't much else you have to worry about. you won't have to worry about resonance or standing waves seeing as though the box will be much too small for a standing wave to develop.

you may have to build the enclosure around the window gear so it will still roll up and down : ) but have fun.
