what kind of box? It doesn't matter what kind of box!
Face em back toward the trunk opening. If you have some free time, face em forward an you'll be amazed at the difference.

I'd face them toward the trunk, NOT towards where the listening position will be. At low volumes, you won't really notice a difference, but at high volumes when your sub is working hard, you won't hear any sub xmax noise or popping. It matters at high volumes.

Yep like BOBEJUICE said something you have to kinda play with. All cars are different also all taste are different.

Also Sam Lin if you have your subs doing what you say in your post I feel sorry for your subs and for you pocket book. Its time to rethink what you have done.

No, ProAudio, my subs don't make any of the odd painful noises that I described. However, I have heard the little $hiznit teenager idiots who drive around in their little rustbuckets with a crappy sub in a crappy box making these noises. In their case however, you can't just point the sub toward the back to get rid of the noise, you'd hafta toss it in the ocean!!

I'm a dumb teenager who has the sub noise problem.....

I have two IDQ 12's in 1.1 cubes each sealed. When I open the trunk and listen to my subs, they make a buzzing sound. This is only when I turn up the volume pretty loud. This buzzing is inaudible when the trunk is closed, my subs are firing to the rear. How can I fix this? It sounds fine in the cabin, but from what you say, something is wrong if my subs sound like that with the trunk open. BTW, the box was made and the subs were installed by a shop in San Antonio (custom sounds) that has a pretty good rep.

Also, I dynamatted the crap out of my car and also used rubberized under coating, so I'm not a rattler.......I've also had mtx thunder 7000's that made this noise. The only subs I had that didn't do this were two mtx thunder 3000 10's with 200 watts total.

My car rattles so bad it's unbelieveable for the moment anyway.. mainly the plastic piece in between my bumper and license plate frame. that wraps around the back of my car.

I'm at college right now and I put my subs in my car on the last day of christmas vacation and I didn't have a chance to dynamat it yet..

I'm thinking about building a new box the next time I come home which is in 2 days

It's too heavy.

My car has a limited amount of horsepower too begin with only 144 plus whatever the mods I've done to it added.
and I can tell a difference with a 4.25 cubic foot ported box.

you can dynamat my probe till it's full, you wont fix the rattles....just from the hatch lid back i have 5 cans of foam inside various panels, and about 40 feet of 3/4" weatherstripping, along with iceguard all over. still rattles like a baby outside.

You will hear the thunder before you see the light
Why do my JL's have to be so ugly?
W6's are SQ subs? Who says? not me!

Get some silicone and put it under the plastic piece under you licencse plate. Put it on the place where your trunk lid meets the body, and on the back of any plastic piece. With this method I am successfully noise free. Of corsethis will seal the trunk, so your subs will not be as audible from the outside.
