i remember someone asking about this a while ago.....so here's the dealGM THEFTLOC Radios Please follow these directions Carefully!!!
The Theftloc feature, on some models, includes a LED indicator light that will blink when the ignition is off and the unit is in the secured state.
LOC: Means the radio is locked and there is a customers code stored in the radio
inOP: Means too many wrong codes have been entered and the radio must be left powered up for 1 hour , with Constant and Ignition left on
SEC: Means there is a customers code stored in the radio , But the Radio is unlocked
----- : Means there is no customer code stored and the radio is unlocked
REP: Means the customers code has been entered once, and radio wants the code repeated to verify the code was right
A) Retrieving scrambled back-up code from the unit
B) Retrieving back-up code from computer ( Authorized Dealers Only)
C) Unlocking / Deactivating unit with back-up code or customer code
D) Removing Customer Code
E) Adding a Customer code
F) Changing a Customer Code
G) “inOP” Second level lock condition
TheftLoc 1 of 4 GM Confidential A) Retrieving Scrambled Back-up Code fom unit With Battery and Ignition Voltages Applied and unit turned off
1. If the unit is in the locked position (“ LOC “ is displayed ) , Proceed to Step 2 Otherwise, Press and hold presets 1 and 4 for about the 4 seconds. The display will show “ SEC” or “---” .
2.Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 6 seconds until the first 3 digits of the display code are displayed. Write the number down.
3. Press the AM-FM button, and the second 3 digits of the scrambled code are displayed , right the number down. The unit will revert to initial display
NOTE: After depressing the AM-FM button and the second 3 digits are not displayed . Then your second set of 3 digits are the same as the first.
EXAMPLE , if 123 came up first, your scrambled code will be 123123
once you have this 6 digit number drop me a line and i'll have my freind at the dealership look the 4 digit unlock code up for ya....

That's good info to know. I assume this "number" must have some formula applied to it to get the "code" from it. Does anyone know it? Ever played around with it? Now that would be great info to share.

I guess there might be a reason for that information to be privvy to GM techniciens, or service people. The word "security" is meaningless when "unauthorized" people know the secrets, meant to prevent them from accessing something to work, if they weren't meant to own it. Would you share your security codes with us?
