i was looking to mount my amp rack on the ceiling of my Jimmy in the cargo area with minimal damage to interior. any suggestions??? look below for approx. weight

Pull out the headliner and see if you have braces that run from side to side of the roof. If you do, you should be able to fabricate a mounting system that will use those existing braces to carry most of the weight. You may also find that you want to weld in some more braces. Other than that, it shouldn't be too difficult to mount your rack to the roof, you could probably get by with 3/8 or 7/16" bolts with large fender washers to help distribute the weight to the roof bracing.

Just for the sake of stability, I would try to brace it to the floor on the sides of the windows.. if you can and have it fit your install. If not, I would make sure to shore up the roof with sound-deadening and/or fiberglass so it doesn't resonate much...

thanks for the ideas guys, i decided to go with the amps on the tailgate though, now begins the search for a new trim piece.......
