I noticed today that my 12L7 has a small tear/cut in the surround, can I fix this myself or should I take it in to the kicker dealer?

trying to repair it yourself will not work properly, and can in fact cause damage.
Depending on your area you may be able to find a shop that is able to "re-surround" the speaker.
We charge $90.Cdn. www.speakercity.ca
I know there's a similarly named outfit from California on the web.

No Problem, we have all forms of spare parts for every woofer out there, if it's not in stock it can be in a few days.
