does anyone know if the dd 6.5 midbass will fit in an explorer? it has 6x8 openings, but i think i can fit a 6.5 in diameter, i am just worried about the mounting depth. does anyone know how the midbass is on the 5.25 model? thanks,

I have the DDW6.5s, and yes, they have HUGE mounting depth. I think you could make an adapter to fit the 6.5s in the opening. I don't know if they would hit the windows though. Take off the panel and measure. There are specs for the DDW6.5 on DD's website that tell the mounting diameter and depth. I don't know how well they would do free air. If you look at the specs they have a moderately low qts and a small vas, so they are almost like subs. I have mine in .15 cubic foot sealed enclosures right now and the midbass kicks ass.

I run my 6.5" DD's free-air and they still sound great. I show off my front stage quite often and everyone is very impressed.
