i couldn't think of a better subject 8o)
im looking into having my amps flip down out of the roof when i turn on the deck and when i turn it off they would flip back up. i think this would be cool except actuators are outta the question, too expensive. i was thinking since its bascally just flipping the amps i could use a motorized hinge type thing but i havent seen anything like that. so maybe you know a easy way to go about doing this? the amps im looking at are an earthquake D2 and 4.5, id probably work out some kind of delay so the amps have time to cool off. i can make a little graphic if you cant see how it would work. thanx,
~chris

You could try using the motors and screw gears from a motorized car seat.....work really good and is a strong motor. That's what i used on my amp rack (although mine'snot upside down).

you can also go to a junkyard and get a motor hydraulic assembly for convertible tops, they are strong andhave pistons for both sides( one for weach side of the amprack.

thanx guys, i decided to save this for another install. i don't wanna be competing in the extreme class as iv read a post on this topic and wayne said this would be strethning(sp) the roof which isnt allow in SS. since my box is gonna take up all the space i have in my cargo area im looking at right behind the door jams where the 6x9 would go in my s10 blazer.
