I was wandering how difficult it would be to hollow out a rear seat to make it an amp rack? i have seen this done and it does not seem very hard but are there any things i might be overlooking that make this job much harder than i think?

for the inside of the rack could i use wood or should i think steel?

thanks for your help.

KC

You'll need a seat that can be carved. You'll need a frame behind the seat to hold the amp rack in place. I would suggest a non moving seat, as hinges tend to fatigue wire over a period of time. Also, the obvious is that the seat is going to become uncomfortable for someone to sit there for extended periods of time.

A friend and I have done this in the back seat of his girlfriends Honda Civic. It had three RF amps in it and was made out of 1/8" steel. We had to take great car to route wires so there wasn't any rubbing or binding. The foam in this car was pretty hard so it wasn't easy to tell there was anything there, an dis still pretty comfortable. The only thing is the seat is very heavy and my friends gf can't lift the seat up anymore
