So if I run a 4ga power wire into a distribution block then run 8 ga to each amp I need 4ga or 8ga ground wire?

Right. Either a separate 8ga from each amp to the ground point, or to a distribution block that then has a 4ga lead to ground.
Don't forget to upgrade the skinny ground from the battery to the fender to 4 ga also.
