I have been intrigued by car audio sytems all my life. I haven't been around them much though until about 2 years ago. I've heard a lot about Kicker, Pioneer, RF, JL, and etc. I am loyal to Kicker so far (and Digital Designs), but my question is this.... Do you think that Kicker products are good for dBDrag? I noticed more people using Crossfire or Memphis 1000d amps. How well do those compare to the Kicker ZR1000? More questions to come. Thanks.

I'd take the amps but leave the woofers in the stock room....

Thanks! What kind of speakers do you both suggest? Currently, I am running a Kicker XPL 15. But since y'all both agree of leaving the Kicker subs out, I have opened up to new ideas. I have a 12" DD Sub, but that ZR1000 only pushes 1255 peak. That sub can handle almost 2 1/2 times the power and I don't have the money to get another ZR1000 (which is what I would like to do). What speaker(s) would be good to go in this system?

As far as leaving kicker in the closet, or whatever, I would have to disagree. Granted Rockford stuff is great, but I decided to try some kicker and MTX combo. I have 2 12inch kicker comps in my eclipse, with an MTX 2160 running them, and I have gotten a lot of compliments on how it sounds. Hits hard as he.ll even when the gain and stereo volume is turned down. But on the same note, I have had complaints from the parents, as well as people here at school, because it is too loud. I guess it is up to whoever is buying the product. Wouldn't reccommend the XPL's though. A buddy of mine put 3 12inch in his cougar with the ZR1000 amp running all 3, and one of them blew, imagine that, a blown sub.
Oh well, life goes on.

Happy shopping.

lol, i must disagree on one thing, ive used alot of kickers, and the kicker comps are childs play, cvrs and up are dangerous, l7s are the boss, i had a sealed one on 1ohm on a lanzar 1800D

ouch! [Embarrassed] now i have 2 12" cvrs, and they hit, i want 2 more, 2 15s, or 2 15l7s, eventually

the thing with kickers is, they hit hard IN THE CAR, as oppose to jl audio, for example, that the bass travels further

yea, I'm going to need you to explain to me how a soundwave from a JL Audio sub travels further than the exact same soundwave from a kicker. Feel free to get technical, I'll try and keep up.
