Hello guys and gals. I have a 2007 Kia Sportage. My system consists of 2 Sundown Audio Nightshade 15's Dual 2 ohm Voice Coils and a Sundown Audio SAZ3000D Amplifier. Big3 is done Sound deadening is on all doors and the spare tire well as well as the rear cargo door. I have 2 D34 yellow tops for the amp and another yellow top in place for the factory battery. My best score to date is 147.1 sealed on the dash at 52Hz. I have done better with my 2 American Bass VFL 12's Dual 2ohm VC's. I am wondering if that frequency is too high, but that is supposedly what my truck peaks at. My current enclosure has subs up and 5 4 inch pvc ports facing the rear with the holes flared on the front. The ports are 15 inches long and are internal ports. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for my suv? I am currently having another enclosure built with subs and a slot port facing the rear and after doing some testing with a single sub test box, this is what my suv does best with.

What have you changed since your last setup? If I remember right you had a different enclosure before when you had all the ab stuff right?

How Much smaller Walt? The box in there now is the correct size as far as cubic feet per sub taking into consideration for the ports and the sub mounting depth diplacement. The next enclosure will be similar to the pwk box with subs and slot port facing the rear.

I honestly say build a bigger box, but most won't agree with me. I guess I'll let my numbers do the talking off of 3394 clamped watts and a competition best of 151.2 db's. The car is louder than that though as you will see here very soon.

Danny ,your Kia ,doesnt seem to like subs up ,I would say shrink the box down .5-.7 and fire those subs back .I noticed the last time i seen you burp ,the roof looked to be pretty weak.As far as your next step,i would look into getting some deadner in there .

That,s exactly what we are going to do DJ. We are going to fire the subs and port to the rear. Derrick and I did some testing with a test box and he determined that subs back port back is the best way for my suv. As far as the roof, it needs some serious TLC and that is coming soon. It flexes way too much and is probably hurting the score a little.

I have a 2005 Hyundai Tuscon (basically the same)and your layout is the problem. 52hz (give or take depending on weather) is your frequency but sub up port driver side is best. Rear firing works but its down somewhat compared to side firing. So far I've done a 149.2 legal with 1 fifteen and 2 RFT1000's.
Not claiming to have tested everything possible, but I have tried a lot so far and that works best for me.

BTW...the roof is weak and I haven't deadened it yet, so my numbers don't reflect any roof work.

The port is an octagon made from mdf with very large roundovers on both ends. I call it the "Octobox"...lol

Just for kicks I built a box yesterday that was sub up port back (similar to yours)to test. Same vb and tuning as box in above pic but with large flared slot port. Best score was a 147.5,and its possible I would gain with good round ports or aeroports but I still highly doubt it would match my other design. BTW...let me know if roof deadening helps your score, I'm curious...

Might want to make it round...similar square port (external) was a 147.5 whereas a round version was 149.1.

Went to a New England SPL show this weekend and pulled a 149.7 despite very hot, humid weather and marginal voltage. NE SPL is measured exactly the same as drag, so the numbers can be directly compared.

That is an awesome score for only one subwoofer. I hope to get over 150 once my new enclosure is built.
