Topic: wiring a quad 1.2 sub
Ok so the sub is quad 1.2. The amp is 1 ohm stable but will acept .5. If I series two coils and series the other two coils and then paralel them will I get a 1.2 ohm load. When I bridge the amp with the pair of leads with the amp see 1.2 or .6? --------------------www.splshows.com

If you have a stereo amp ( 2 channel) you bridge it, and the total ohm load from the speaker is 1.2 ohms----then each of the two channels will see 0.6 ohms. I'm guessing you really have a mono amp though with 4 conductors on it for ease of wiring that are internally bridged--so really the amp would see the 1.2 ohm load. The above is obviously all nominal impedeances. -------------------- Team FTGIncriminator Audio Powerbass

same thing i was assuming, Andy. just a mono with parallel outputs. I don't know of any 2ch amps that are 1ohm or 0.5ohm bridgable, safely. at least nothing recent

xxx 15 k. The amp is mono. The sub is quad 1.2. I would like to see the load on the amp at .6. I don't it will happen. --------------------www.splshows.com

you're options are... if you parallel both coils you'll have (2) .6 ohm coils if you series those you get 1.2 or you parallel those and you get .3 if you series both coils you have (2) 2.4 ohm coils if you series those you get 4.8 or if you parallel you get 1.2 so .3 or 1.2 are your options --------------------

if its a mono amp then what you see is what you get If its a 2 channel amp and you bridge it then each channel sees half of the original impedence --------------------
