I have been thinking about how to deal with these vents since i first started thinking about competeing in SPL. What i need to know is what is the point of these vents and what will happen if i plug them up. there are vents on the bottom of my door panel on both doors. they have a rubber flap on them to make them one way vents and they vent out the back of the door in to the door jam. i know they are on almost ever car atleast some where. is it ok to cover there up?

I don't know why you would have them in the door. I have them in the back of my car and they lead directly to the outside world from inside my car. They open and close with the bass notes so I sealed it off. some people say it lets the car breath and its good for spl. Depends on the setup I had an aeroport 6 inches away from my vent so I dont think it was helping.

they let the airpressure in the car balance with the outside environment when you close the door, or when travelling at high speeds.

the vents at the back of suvs, like on my old bravada, just pulled the air from the front seats to the entire vehicle. Basically just sucks the a/c to the back.

In the doors, it allows the pressure in the vehicle to equalize when you shut the doors...tape em up..or put some metal over them and dynomat over them.

What can't be seen won't be known
