I have a 91 chevy s10 with a 4.3L in it and there is hardly any room to drill a good pilot hole for my power cable. i used the pre made whole in the firewall that ran wires from inside of the truck to the engine but it was so close to the engine that it melted the insolation on the power cable. so i need some good recommendations on where i should make one that wont effect anything already there. much apriciated

I'm a big fan of running power wire, especially the big stuff, underneath the vehicles. 8ga. and 4ga. I usually run inside.

under the vehicle even for a daily driver? I'm planning on running 4 runs total for this season, but it's on my DD, and I'm not sure it's safe to run outside?

I've had wire outside my truck for 4 years now.

Cover it in something waterproof. then secure it with c brackets every few inches. Where you can't use c brackets use the GOOD zipties, but try to keep those to a minimum.

I've seen multiple runs of 0 inside 4" pvc pipe in a Ford Expedition. It ran underneth the truck to the rear where there was a hole drilled in the floor with the pipe glued to it and the wire running up through.

I have a 2001 S10 Blazer and ran my 0 gauge along the frame under the truck, just a made a few holes under the back seat for the wire and used expanding foam to seal the holes. Since it's a daily driver I used some clear tubing and ran the wire through that first, just as a precaution for when I take it off road.

In my car I have about a 3 inch clearance.. whereas If I put pvc attached to the "frame" that's any more than 2 inches you'll be able to see it.. Maybe I can cram 4 runs in it? And how did you guys attach the pvc to the car underneath?

you would use pipe clamps, probably the same ones plumbers would use in a house to hold the pipes to the frame iside the wall.

so, i have only been installing for 3 years, but have worked with quite a few veteran installers. i have never heard of running power outside. i have done quad 0 guage in a 04 f150 harley truck with no problem. i know that the 91 chev has a whole less room, but still, i have always found a way to make it work. what about being in a saltwater environment like the south? does that cause extra wear on your power if it is outside the car. do you need to have any kind of different wire to do this? just wonderin.

Installs should be like McDonalds... quick, cheap, and easy.

If your using a steel strap you have to make sure the edges have rubber on them to prevent wire rubbing.

not too sure about the 91, but I'm sure it's close to mine. The amount of space on the battery side is very limited, for a 0 gauge run it's easier to run it along the frame rail. If your doing multiple runs it's definitely easier under the truck.

on my 91 i ran several o g though the truck just next to the ant.there is tons of room to drill holes.pull back the carpet and you will see then run them on the other side of ac tubes to keep them away from exhaust.ran the car that way for 2 years never a problem

Mine is covered in a liquid proof tubing. See picture below:

u can rubberize dip it very easy or run pvc pipe and steel strap it to the car and run the wire thru it and then seal the ends of the pipe so no water or anything can get inside but even if it did still will not hurt it
