I have a 1999 Mustang Convertible and need to install a "stealth" audio system in it.

I am not hesitant to say I am new to the Higher end of car audio and been having some serious trouble finding a way to install a Loud & Clear stealth system into my car.

I bought a Car Audio Stores Inventory out and have several choices to choose from as well.

Goal: to get a loud system that sounds good and not distorted by bass or any other range.

I can install either 2 Alpine SPR-137R or JL XR650-CSi & XR525-CSi into my car.
I have been having a really hard time finding out which option would be better! Any ideas?

I am pushing on the idea of Bi-Amping them with two JL 300/4 amps. (I have one) - Or even using a spare 1000/1 (but felt I needed to fade/balance the speakers to make it sound the best)

Since my Mustang accepts 5.25" woofers, I have JL 6W0-4 subs I was thinking of installing in kick panels to fill the remaining lows. Good or Bad idea??? Do you think seeing kick panels would make a theif want to break in and rip them out?

I want drawn up a way to hide the amps so I would cost too much time (and out smart a thief) to steal - though my roof would still be cut open [Frown]

I had two 10's in my truck (that i admit I didn't install the best acoustic way - and caused enough attention to get my roof ripped open and stolen.)

I really want to learn how to position the speakers I have, and power them appropriately to really get some great sound with driving on the highway (80mph [Smile] )

Just a little background. I am a Mechanical Eng. at a Top 5 TECH in USA, so I do have some background in Circuits, Sound, and Building. I am very handy and can make/do most everything I have read in a Car Audio Install.

If any can really help me out there could be a gift involved if interested. I have plenty of Alpine and JL stuff (That includes you too Chad [Wink] ). I just really need some expert knowledge in getting a system that I will love to listen to, I thought the SPX and XR Series should be enough to achieve this but let me know F1 or ZR would be better to get into. You know everything from tweeter placement to getting a full spectrum of sound!

Thanks to all who read through all this!!!
I hope this was enough to get started with!

JL XR's are WAY better than the alpines.

Roger that, Thanks!
Just a bit more to that question.
Would a XR525-CXi would be a noticeable difference from the XR525-CSi???
Just thinking about the "Stealth" idea is all.

The -CXi have the same crossover but the tweeter is placed on the woofer, where the -CSi is a separate tweeter, and the woofer is whole.

by doing the component set, you can place the tweeter in different positioning, allowing you more flexibility and a high staging. i believe the component also has 5 levels of tweeter output on the crossover, where as the coaxials crossover only has 3 levels

You are exactly correct!
I looked at the manuals and confirmed it, and will use -CSi
Thank you for pointing that out!

Also, the JL 6W0 Specialty subwoofer I have:
I want to put it into a kick panel, but it definitely won't get the volume it says it needs: 0.175 ft^3 or 5 Liters.
How much will it effect the subwoofer, even it I stuff it full of padding? Will it sound horrible?
I just want it to fill in the lows in the cabin and I don't want for everyone else to hear, but more or less just me.
I was thinking of installing two, but heard the driver side might get in the away of my clutch.
Thanks!

In addition to the JL 6W0. I found a great deal on the 8 ohm version, and would love to run it in stereo but I haven't been able to find a 8ohm 2x channel amp criteria. I guess I am going to have to put them in parallel at 4 ohm to use them
The subs should safely max out at 125 RMS and are rated at 75 RMS
Well now that I look at it I have a JL A1400 I can use, but one thing I haven't had much success finding help topic on is the difference rated power and how that is in real life on my car (i guess without measuring it):
A1400
Rated Power 12.5 V: 240 W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohm

Rated Power 14.5 V: 320 W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohm

Thanks again!

Ok, so i changed my setup.....

I am going to install JL XR650-CSi in the front doors and thought after a couple of inputs to place 6W0's in the rear speaker placements of my car to get the lows I need.
Goal: the hear the fullest range of sound possible while driving 80 mph on the highway.

So now would it be better to buy another 6W0 4 ohm (I have one) so I can put a 2 channel amp on them and be able to set them up in stereo and adjust them to sound the best or just go with the two 6W0 8 ohm I have in parallel and just wire them up as a single channel???

Thanks,
