Don't know if i should post this in here, or the head unit, but here it goes.
Installing my pioneer Avic-d3 in my 2006 chevy cobalt. hooked everything up, of course it doesnt work/turn on. I checked the wires, i'm getting power from the yellow(continuous) wire, but nothing from the blue turn-on or red power wire. For some reason, there is no power even coming into the factory harness before it goes into the aftermarket wiring adapter. I ran a wire from my ignition to the blue turn-on wire, so that problem is fixed, but what whould i connect the red wire to to make that work?
I already checked my fuses, nothing seems blown, wasnt 100% sure tho b/c idiot chevy put a wrong fuse diagram in my car.
So my 2 questions are, what to hook the red wire up to, and is this rigging gonna harm anything? What else can I do to make this flippin work?
Thanks

you could use the data bus adaptor harness which would provide 12v accessosry (red wire) to turn the radio on or you could just run an new accessory line to the radio.
the blue/white is an output to turn on amps-you dont feed voltage to it
if any of what i'm saying is confusing you further... please just stop and consult your nearest mobile specalist for installation services.

Oh, well that makes sense. i was always under the impression that there was a blue wire going INTO the head unit that was a turn on lead to turn the head unit on when the car was started, and there was also a seperate blue output for amp turn on. So just hook red wire up to a 12v acc source, and blue wire output for my amp turn on. Vehicle ignition should be 12v acc, so i could hook that one up to the red input to my receiver? thanks for the help

Ok, so i after wiring it to a acc power source, b/c like i said not power was coming thru the gm adapter circuit city sold me, i finally figured out they sold me the wrong adapter. Like none of the pins in the adapter match the factory wires coming into it. Does anyone know the model number of the gm wiring harness for a 2006 chevy cobalt ls? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't think of the part # off the top of my melon, but it's going to be the pricey one. (gmrc02 maybe?)

Metra makes the XSVI-2103 that just provides a 12 volt accessory wire. if you have Onstar and want to keep that then you need to use the all in one kit 99-3303.

its a gmrc-01 I install them every day,,if the car has onstar then your going to need a gmos-06 to retain onstar...if you bypass that all together(not recommended) then you will lose some functions like door dinger and the rap system will no longer function.. and a couple other things i cant recall of the top of my head...the new canbus systems are tricky to say the least....

If they sell Peripheral interfaces, the part would be GMCO2L11 and runs about 120bucks. That if you don't have On-star. If you want to retain on-star, you may have to relocated the factory radio.

The reason you arent getting switched 12volts in the radio harness is because in newer gm vehicles the radio is turned on by infared. You can run a ignition wire instead of buying an expensive harness,(that is unless you have onstar and wish to retain it)by running a wire from the red wire off the back of the deck to the fuse box. The fuse I would reccomend to tap into would be the 25 amp wiper fuse. This is how we always solved this problems in this particular vehicle. This method also wont work if you have the digital voltage display on the faceplate part of the dash.
