I have just put a Alpine IVA-W200 into a 2002 Ranger. after some light dremmel work I got the unit in and wired everything up.

I ran both of the yellow wires from the main harness (Park light & Brake light) to a common toggle switch, and then grounded the other side of the switch. and everything worked 100% until the truck was turned off. then there is no video.

If I unhook the toggle switches ground, and re-ground it everything will work fine again until the truck is turned off and back off.

My toggle switch works fine after I re ground it every time.

It doesn't work like units in the past. You need a PAC TR-77 (I think that is right--check the site).

lol...I see the problem.

Alpine redesigned the video lockout a few years ago...one wire must see 12volts...the other ground..and after a sequence of 12v and ground..the video feed will appear. Andy provided a good lead...just be smart about it okay.

A friend of mine that works at an Alpine dealer told me to just ground both wires trough a toggle switch, even though the wiring diagram shows one of them going to the E-brake light (-) wire, which would become 12V+ when the brakes are hit. and the other to the brake lights. Ithink I have that right, I don't have the diagram in front of me right now.

BUT If I ground both wires everything works properly the video plays no problem. It's when I throw a toggle switch in the mix things stop working.

Thanks for the help guys

Alpines used to need not only a toggle switch for the park brake wire, but it also needed a momentary (valet button style) switch on another.

Periphal makes a automatic switching device (ptr7) just like the Pac piece. The peripal piece comes programmed for the alpine screens, so just wire it up and its ready to go.

I hooked the +12 wire up to the brake light, so I step on the brake & flip the toggle and I'm good to go.

Thanks guys.
