I just got home from a bitch of a day ending with me staying 2 hrs late trying to get this POS done...
As the title says,92 Buick Regal Gran (Sport?)something...
Anyway..This bastard has the 3 pc radio in it from factory...Tuner in the upper dash, cassette and EQ in lower dash and amp/brain on the backside right end of the dash...
Got everything wired and ready but I could not for love nor money get the deck to slide in properly.
I found that a Ushaped bracket in the back side of the dash which I beleive to support the cassette would not recicve the aftermarket deck...it about maybe 1/16 of an inch to narrow...and its made from about 1/4 plate steel.
Its fastened in place from the backside of the main dash brace by about 4 screws which would require taking the whole dash out to remove...I tried to bend it slightly but with no luck...
Does anyone know a trick to this SOB??
I'm going to sleep on it and maybe come up with something..but if some has done this and can offer some advise,i should would appreciate it....

sounds like you have the same dash i have in my 94 regal custom.
i had to get an aftermarket kit, that actually extends out past the dash, about an inch or two.
it was specifically made for the regal because of that steel in the back.
the aftermarket kit allows the radio to NOT bump into the steel in the back, but getting the wires to all fit nicely is still a pain in the butt.

Yeah we had a kit for it and all, but the thing still bumps the bracket...
And Yeah..the wiring is a total PITA!!
The headunit is one of those JVC touch screen deals...single DIN...and I only need to go in maybe at most 1/4"...thats its...then the job is 100% done...
I think I made up some new cuss words last night I got so mad....

It takes some finesse but if you wiggle the HU while pushing the face side of it downward it will clear the bracket and slide in. Becareful though cause it is easy to pinch the wires whil doing this. But your end result will be this Posts: 23 | From: Freeport, TX | Registered: Apr 2005
