How thick is the ABS and what are you using it for?

To cut it, you can use a jig saw. Just attach it first to something like some MDF. A router would also work. A dremmel could be used if you are patient.

I am not sure how thick it is. I am using it to make a plate in a 85 chevy blazer where the 6x9's go in the side panels.

jig saw would be my tool of choice. it may not be a perfect cut but your grille should cover it.

Are you going to be mounting a speaker to it? If so, you really need to know how thick it will be. I have some some at my house that would literally snap if you mounted a speaker to it.

Also, why not use MDF? It would be much more resonant resistant.

I am using mdf as a to build it out then I am am using the ABS which I found out is 3/16 of a inch thick to cover the top then later going to vinyl. As it is right now the magnet touches the sheetmetal so I want to build it out and put sounddampering and stuffing to keep noise and rattling to a min. Thanks for all your help.

Just out of curiosity you do know they make plates to do exactly what you want to...they have 6x9 spacers and adapters, but I admire your DIY spirit.

In that case...You could either fashion some out of fiberglass if you want a truly trick look, or use a jigsaw to cut the plastic.
