I finally got my Laptop setup now for music\video, the next step is to build me a console and locate a good place to mount the laptop at.

I will be using a 7" touchscreen to control the pc, however, i need access to turn the laptop's power button on, access to it's dvd drive and to the screen so basically, i need to be able to access it ONLY when i am in a parked position. While driving, i use the touchscreen.

Anyways, here is problem-
Can't find anywhere to do this at.

I was thinking of mounting it on top or inside of the console when i build it but the problem is, the laptop is too wide!
It won't fit between the 2 front seats at all!

I cant install it behind the 2 front seats because i will be building a large box, non-wall in the back and no magnets can get anywhere close to the pc components.

I was thinkin maybe installing it in fron of the console on the floor, but if i do this, because it is so wide, i would have to loose a lot of passenger side floorboard area and also making the console look non symetrical when i build it.

I just dont know what or how to do it.
Anyone got tips?

Thanks for the answers but that isn't what i am looking for.

I can get an 8" touchscreen for almost half that and I already have a pc, a laptop. I chose not to build my own for my own reasons.

I'm just tryin to get ideas on where to mount the laptop at securely keeping in mind i have to access it to turn it on because no internal modifications are permitted.

hehe, i hate to say no but i gotta say the truth.

That ia an awesome install, but since i have no back seat and the box for my next project will be in the backseat area with the port right in between the seats, that design wouldnt work. I was thinking of doing something like that but due to it restricting air flow, a big nono for me.

The only options i have left that i am aware of are-
Install it up top on headliner(do not know how)
Install right in front of console--
The reasonw hy this method can work is because i just need to turn it on then shut the screen, since i am not using the screen, this method is an option.
