I have a lot of trunk rattle. It's not the license plate, seems to becoming from under the car. Anyone know how I could eliminate rattle?

what exactly does dynamat do? I've heard many people saying they use it, but what is it's purpose?

its an acoustical dampening material and it makes a huge difference sometimes one layer isnt enough its one of those things where theres never to much but you dont have to use dynamat you can use brown bread or some of the other cheaper alternitives

I've heard about issues with the fuel float rattling inside the fuel tank... to the point where it falls off.... lol

dynamat weighs down what ever you put it on...helps keep the vibrations down & stop resonating.
mat is good stuff. Get some cascade or something. Dynamat is WAY overpriced for what it is. Much better out there for the money. Spray foam inside the holes of the trunk lid. some convoluted foam works great too!
Check the muffler and the heat shield above it. License plate frame. Tail lights. Any reflectors...basically anything bolted on lol.

Just and idea.
I've used a 1/4" piece of ply, carpeted for looks and sandwiched some household fiberglass insulation between the board and the trunk lid. Worked well......on a car of that age I'd suspect damn near anything. Get underneath etc. and try moving things.......if it will move, it will likely rattle. Other things you can do......stuff voids with insulation or expanding foam being carefull not to over do it or use it in an area that gets damp or needs some drainage. I had to drill out the trunk lid lock on one of my old rides due to expanding foam......NOT MUCH FUN!!! But the trunk lid was nice and dead when I was done. When you closed it, the sound was like a "thud" instead of a "clang". Basically stop things from moving. Good Luck

hey mac you don't want it to stop vibrating the trunk firing forward. If you want to stop the trunk rattle fire forward seal off trunk works the best

good luck with teh trunk idea...im yet to find something that looks good and performs well. i mean, yeah, i have seen such things as wedged chunks of foam between the trunk lid and the surrounding area of the trunk attached to the car, but it stuck out of the trunk when u closed it, looked retarded (but worked nicely haha)... and actually..when i miked my car on the audiocontroll i lost about 3 dbs by holding my trunk down.. im not sure if the same happens when u use dynamat on the trunk... because of course you would not want to lose volume...

I tightened down the latch a bit the other day.. helped out a bit.. I'm working on designing a bigger and better box right now that I'm going to seal off the trunk with.. but I can't do that yet until I beef up the suspension because the stock civic suspension can't handle the weight www.mac2118.com/vids/ddtrunk.avi shows what I'm dealing with
