When porting a box with an aero port, would using 45 degree and 90 degree bends effect the tuning frequency? Or would it be the same frequency as a straight port of the same length? [Confused]

i think all that matters is the correct length

All that should matter is the length. Make sure you measure down the middle of the port and not on the inside or outside of the bend.

If it is an outright SPL enclosure--I would wonder if the bend would effect the air flow enough to cost you a few tenths or so. I have absolutely no clue if it would or not.

My setup is going to be SQL, so i'm not going to compete much, but i want my box ported.

How does tuning work with a aero port? Is it, the longer the port the lower the frequency and vise-versa?

Also, how long would it have to make it to have it tuned to around 25-35 hz? I don't need an exact just an estimate.

I'm going to be using a 3" or a 4" port, not sure which one yet. It looks like this, i'll make all the bends using PVC or something of that sort.

To tell you what length is needed to tune the box to between 25-35hz (and that is a big difference), we need to know how big the port is (diameter), and how big the enclosure is.

Do a search in the sub/enclosure section and there is a webpage that will do the math for you.

Or if you want to learn something, go to the JL Audio website and look under tutorials. It gives the equation for determining tuning frequency.

http://dev5.sites.dk/log/links/2_AeroPort_MAN.pdf

Port manual, will be usefull to get the correct lenght, a aeroport has to be a little logner than a straight pipe, because of the flanges.

www.linearteam.dk has a online port calc and their famous winisd software.
