I just replaced the factory stereo in a '02 GMC Sierra ext. cab. I put in an Alpine CDA-9831, running to an MRP-F240, which is powering the four speakers (Alpine front, Infinity rear). Haven't gotten to running a Mono to a sub yet, waiting on money. With what I have now, when I crank it up, I'm getting a hiss. It's pretty noticeable, except when listening to high output music. I think it may be the ground, but not sure, and don't want to rip the back seat out before I ask you guys. The ground is connected to where the rear seat bolts to the chassis. When I installed, I can't remember, but don't think I scraped the paint. Think that's the problem?

good place to start... alt noise corisponds w/ engine rpm... if its a constant hiss most likely introduved in rca or you have dammaged HU or amp input/outputs

the amp is screwed to the body, but I unscrewed it and just had it sitting there and got the same problem. I played with the gains, but that did not solve the problem either. I'm wondering if it is the HU ground. right now, it is just connected to the black ground wire coming out of the dash. Maybe I should ground it to the chassis?
