So, I'm wandering through Revy the other day (like Home Depot) looking for some expanding foam and I come across some neato stuff.

Ever see a home improvement show where they are using 2part expanding foam for the insulation in the walls? They spray it on and it instantly expands and dries. Don't confuse this stuff with the crack filler we are used to...

Well, now you can buy a small version of this right off the shelf. It comes in a box with a nozzle on a tube. Sounds like you can just spray this stuff, it will expand immediately, and dry instantly. Sounds like just the trick for all the SQ guys for trunk and rear side panels. That should damp them up...

I gonna have to git me sum....

Hey dukk,

I've seen that stuff too. I know they use the same stuff to act like a packing material. I could make all kinds of crazy molds with that stuff.

Did you catch the cost of it?

Peace

It was $35Canadian. This is about twice that of a large can of spray foam. The package was heavy though and looks like it should hold a lot more...

If it's the same stuff they use for packaging using molds and stuff, it's called "Foam in Place". It does dry really fast. Industrialy they get it in 50 gallon drums, it's a two part thing, mixes in the gun.

I saw that stuff getting used to stiffen up a car chassis in one of my mod mags. It said gotta be careful not to use too much of this, as it being 2 part, the chemical reaction will continue until it's all used up, so it'll split panels if too much is forced in. Also, it stains worse than normal spray foam. Should work pretty well for deadening, it fills so well they were using it to stiffen a chassis for racing! They worked fast and put it into the body cavities through a series of holes drilled about 5 inches apart. Hope this helps any.
