is it possible to buy new panels for a car. like specific ones. this summer, I want to make kicks but I might be returning the car so I want to be able to put old kick panels back on. is there a way to buy just the kick panels? also the door sill on the driver's side is kinda funky from my installation. had to do all this experimenting to get the 4 gauge to fit and not the sill doesn't fit as well.

Check your local car dealer's parts department for individual parts, I know my dealer can look up almost any part in his computer database and order it for me.

three words.....junkyard,junkyard,junkyard....even if it is a newer car, there are still going to be some around that could have what you are looking for.....

When I was doing my car, I made sure I already had every piece I'd need to put the car back together before modifying them. For a total of about $40, I got everything I'd need from a junkyard. I highly agree that this is the way to go. What do you drive? I have a '90 Olds Trofeo that's almost impossible to find parts for. I actually have had to find parts from Florida for it. Stupid rare cars.

well, I drive a 1997 4Runner. tan interior. I don't even know of any scrapyards in this area. I know I don't have the skills yet to fabricate my own replacement panels so... ehh, I duno. maybe I'll just worry about it when the time comes.

If the junkyard is a no go, check ebay. Though, i would be a bit hesitant to use the factory panels!!! I am currently making some kicks and started as you did, but soon found that the factroy pieces would need reinforcement. The best method would be to spray the piece down with fiberglass release agent and then lay glass cloth on the piece. Then coat the cloth WELL. Use this for the panel instead of the factory piece. I hope my screw-up can help someone else in need of help.

I have heard that turtle wax works well as a release agent.
If it was me, I would just cover the area in a bunch of saran wrap, or something like that. Just make sure that the piece you are molding is sealed up and you shouldn't have any problems.
