I'm finally getting some more time to finish up my system. I read that you had focal 5kx subs in the accord in the doors and that it was ported.

Could you give me some infomation on how to reproduce the same enclosure in my car.

But I'm going to use fiberglass and mdf instead of metal.

My boxes were .18f3 each, ported to 40 Hz, if memory serves... Dukk actually figured the boxes for me, and I've since sold the pair I had. The boxes became a permanent addition to my totalled Honda... Now I cant even find the T/S specs to design a box for you... dammit..

if I tune mine to 40 hz that means I have to cut it off at that point.

I'm using my epicenter as a subsonic filter
right now.
my box is tuned to 32
and I have the next highest chip.

does the audio control 2xs which I have to spilt the signal up in my front stage have a subsonic filter that I can set to 40 hz as well. I think it does.

I might just try and build the biggest box I can fit under my door panel with mdf and fiberglass and see how that sounds.
it won't be vented, but it would be better that having it just in my door wouldn't it.

If your gonna do anything, I'd go with an 18Ga steel box. Several reasons: Steel obviously isn't as thick, therefore, more airspace. Second: if your going to be cutting into your doors, why not WELD a steel box in to actually add strength- that's a selling point at a show! D: You get bragging rights and you will get props for a job well done!

Dukk, it's all good! I got an '89 Accord now, basically the same car, the kickpanels transferred right over. Now that I've got rid of my entire old system (I was getting sponsored, it fell through) I need to get new subs, and amp, and eq, and..... Anyway, I found an a/d/s/ PQ8 (20x4) that I'm going to run, but still need a small sub for the front of the car. I think I will be going with an Oz 8 for the glovebox... That should work pretty good...

Dukk, If you could help me to design a box for the focal 5kx subs I would greatly appreciate it.

Where would one get these Focal 5KX subs, how much, and what is their gimmick? Is it mainly to achieve front end bass response? Interested in knowing more about these 5" subs (?!!!). Anyone have opinions about these and how to use them?

Also, how much power do they handle and how much excursion do they have?

Focal discontinued these subs, but, if you find a dealer somewhere, you may be able to get ahold of them. Cost is about 125.00 US apiece. They have 3" voice coils, and I believe they can handle about 120 watts each. If I had the specs, I'd post 'em. They are VERY good sounding little subs, but you will probably want another big sub to augment they're output.

Anyone know where could I find a dealer around the KC area? Does anyone have any idea as to how I could find a dealer list or something? I get to Omaha pretty regularly but I'm not familiar with stereo places there...I go to visit my Aunt there sometimes. A 5" with a 3" VC...that's in the league of Morel, Dyn, or even my old Macrom Integras, quite impressive.

I would try they're website, they may have a dealer locator there. If they dont, you should at least be able to get a phone number to they're headquarters and they should be able to point you in the right direction.
