Hey. I have a audiocontrol epicenter and a Alesis MEQ-230. I was just wondering if it made any different if I put the alesis or the epicenter first after my headunit? it's a full range signal
thanks a lot.

Epicenter goes in first, then all other signal processors. You'll have problems getting good rta settings with the epicenter if you leave it engaged while tweaking.

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

I was wondering how you converted that MEQ-230 for car use. Could you please explain how?

Heres what you can do, it's the easiest and cheapest way. Get you a 12V to 110V inverter, then, on the 110V outputs, use a transformer to get it down to the 9VAC that the Alesis uses. This will do 2 things: since the inverters output fluctuates, it'll stabilize it at 9V, and since most inverters dont have a true sinewave output, it should make the modified wave a bit smoother. I dont know what kind of transformer you need other than step down, obviously... -

That's what I'm doing right now. I bought the power supply that converts 12 volt DC to 110 volt AC and then I'm using the 110 volt AC to 9 volt AC that came with the alesis.

I've also got an Alesis MEQ-230, and am using a power inverter on it, tied into a relay feeding off the head unit remote turn-on lead. Initially, there was a serious hum in the system, but that was due to a cheezy amplifier picking up some interference. Currently I'm using all Hifonics VIII amps and no problems with noise from the inverter/transformer/eq combo. And wow, what a difference that EQ makes!

actually the Alesis works on +/-15vdc all u really need to do is solder into the diodes and this will give u a regulated +/- 15vdc. it is the simplest mod that can be done.
one consideration tho is the alesis board is very fragile and if u heat it up to much when soldering or have a lil accident with teh soldering iron the whole board will fry.
if any wants the article on how to make an isolated power supply for the alesis , email me mic10is@rocketmail.com
using power invertes is illegal for compeition.
