Any of you guys used this piece or know/heard anything about it other that what is in the brocure? Really curious to how well it performs and if it really achieves the bass upfront as advertised. Is the 4 band parametric EQ enough for most purposes?

I dont have experience with that deck, but, yes, generally, very generally, 4 parametric bands is usually enough to iron out the really bad spots.

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

I just recently purchased this piece (replaces alpine ERA-G320 EQ) and it performs better than i thought it would even better with the optical with my cd changer,(all my noise problems went away).it also helped my staging and imaging and bass output.as for the EQ 4 bands is good enough for me since i dont need much adjustment and its 4 for the front and 4 for the rear and each band can be changed.. Ex. first band for front can be set for 50 65 80 100hz and the same for all bands, thats as much as i can tell ya still playing around with it.

This didn't replace anything as far as I know. It is the digital phase processor that has the parametric EQ on the front and rear (4 bands) and on the sub (3 bands). Along with the EQ, it has sub crossover and phase alingment, and 20 Bit D/As with used with the fiber optic output of a deck like the 7949. I was curious if it would give me "the bass upfront" that we so desire.

AHH ok missunderstood you. for me it put the bass up front for live music or music that has real instruments, Ex. drums.. but when i play something like rap thats when you can tell it comes from the back,But like i said im still playing around with it.I didnt get the owners manual(on order though) so its kinda like push the buttons and see what it does.

Yes, it brings bass upfront. Its main perpose is alighnment of phases of different frequences. Thus delaying front stage relatively to the bass it brings bass upfront.

That is what Alpine says it does. I have never heard a vehicle that had one in it. I have been thinking about getting one since they came out, but wanted to know if they worked as advertised.

I am going to buy one these days. I have talked to the guys who run them and all say, that the unit is the best car DSP available on the market. The only problem (if it can be concidered as a problem) is that the automatic setup is not working properly. It is better to use the manual settings that will take some time but the result is going to be worth it!
Let me know if you can get some more info on it.
Take care. Fred

I only now of one car in my area that has one in it- Dale Earnhardt Jr's Impala SS. The installer loved the thing.
The only problem I am having is finding an amp with an internal crossover that can do a bandpass for my midbasses. I want to run the front outputs to my highs, the rear to the midbasses, and sub to the sub. That may not work well, but we will see. I may have to have a passive filter to roll the top end of the midbass off instead of an active bandpass.
