on a 3 channel amp how would you hook up a center channel apeaker? i thought i read before that you would connect it to one wire from each side, but should that be to the channel that is bridged or the other, or am i way off all together, lol. well any input would help. thanx

You want to get a mono signal from the amplifier. Is this a real 3 channel amp, or is it a 2 channel that can run in bridged stereo mode? If it's a real 3 channel, your 3rd channel is probably crossedover, so forget about using it. If that is the case, you should be able to use the left positive and the right negative to derive your mono signal. It's basically just bridging the amp. You will need a crossover and L-pad for the new center channel. And a decent speaker that has the same basic tonal balance as you main front speakers. I dont like center channels myself, but I have had to use them. It seems that when you bridge an amplifier and run stereo speakers, you lose a bit of the stereo separation. You may want to use an audio control piece called the esp-3, it's a spatial restoration device, as well as a center channel processor. It will require an additional amplifier for your center channel speaker...

To get a center channel to help you the most and to sound the best some sort of circuitry would be required. A derived mono signal from left and right doesn't cut it. This gives the center channel way too much information and stretches the signal way too much across the stage. The center channel needs to be just like in home theater, not a left and right derived signal, but a independent "voice" material signal. This is what sounds the best...for sq.
