I never go to the SQ side of the forum cause I'm a hardcore SPL competitor but this topic caught my attention so I'm going to cast my vote for the Alpine 7949 from way back in the day when I got started installing. That head unit was the heat back then and could probably still hold its own against today's head units.

clarion 9255(first edition), Alpine 7909(sweet looking and great sound) and the Pioneer 8250(budget SQ deck).
