I just bought a pair of Sony Mobile ES 6.5 componets, I like their sound but the tweeters seem to have more output than the mids, the tweets are intalled at the dash and the mids in the stock lower door location, this is a in a Pathfinder. I can't fix it with an eq because I don't have one still. Do any of you have any sugestions, I guess I can mount the tweeters lower maybe in the kick panels but the problem with that is that they cant be angled for better sound. Any help will be appriciated, thanks.

Since it's the Es series, I'll have to agree with Sam on this, you should have a tweeter level attenuation switch of some kind on your x-overs, if now, orion makes pads that'll knock off 3, 6, or 9dB, I think thats the ordering of them...

Thanks for the replies, but I checked and there's no attenuation switch on the crossovers, the tweeters seem to be a little too bright an I think that's why they have more output than the mids, but they dont scream, do you think that an attenuation will solve this or maybe mounting them in the kicks or lower on the doors? What you think? I had CV accurate image coaxs before and I liked their sound, I thought that components would be better. Thanks for your help.

I'd go with kickpanels for the set. Speakers almost always sound better when they are close together. The only exception (for the most part) is subs. Since bass is pretty much omni-directional, and most of us dont have room for enclosures up front, it's ok to put them in the trunk, but I'd go with kicks, you'll be happy you did!

Thanks audiophyle, for now I'll only put the tweets in the kicks, will that sound good? the mids are close to the kick panels anyways, later when I get some more money I'll go with some kick panel pods for the set. Sound good, right?

Not a bad set-up (kicks and doors) Would you be able to set-up the tweeters in the doors, up by the A-pillar? Trying to remember the interior of Pathfinders.
I concur, though, that putting them closer together or getting an attenuation knob will help.

It's been my experience that 2 speakers mounted within 12" or less of each other sound like one speaker. This is why I recommend doing them both in the kick. Maybe you could get them in the door with the mid, make a bracket out of a backstrap to suspend them OVER the mid. This will kind of be a coaxial setup. You may even want to consider finding a good pair of Point Source drivers, where the tweeter is actually mounted at the base of the mid-woofer cone. I know Aria use to make some really good sounding point source drivers. Just keep them as close together as possible, and you should be ok.

Thanks for all your help and all the replies, I installed the tweeter in the kick panels and they sound much much better, and they are pretty close to the mids, they are within 12 inches to the mids. I love how the components sound now, latter I'll make the pods to have the mids in the kickpanels also and its going ro be great. Thank you all again for your help.
