When I rewired my amp I used some pink colored 12gauge phoenix gold wire to run from the amp to the crossovers for the front speakers Its only about 3 feet. Before I had some old 12 gauge mtx wire running to them. I thought the newer wire would sound better. But I lost of lot of clarity it seems like. Is that possible with just speaker wire? The tweeters and the mids have about 12 feet of Straight wire quartet series running to them that a friend gave me that I bought the amp off of. Should I get some more of that to run to the crossovers?

I have heard a difference in wire. There's not a HUGE difference, but it is there. The best speaker wire that I have found is Straight Wire Black Silc (I think thats correct spelling). I've got that in my car, along with matching Black Silc interconnects. Yes, it's very expensive stuff, but, if you really want to hear EVERYTHING, you may want to go for it! Just have a strong stomach, you'll pay more for the cabling than you have pretty much for the rest of the entire system.

Same goes for MIT cabling!!! Damn near as expensive as my whole home system!!!!!!!!!!!!
You could also look into Vampire cables, they are used by Stereophyles the world over, and highly recommended by Stereophyle - the magazine. MIT has gotten a lot of press from Home Theater, Stereophyle, Stereophyle - Home Theatre, Crutchfield, Audio, and other high end audio mags. They have this little box on the end of them before the spades, look pretty cool .
my 3 cents worth,

power cable doesn't seem to make any difference. The only place you can make any kind of difference is in the signal path, or at least that's what I've found...

Thanks for the note, not like it isn't common knowledge, but thanks . However, they did sell the MIT cables for 1/2 a second, before they realized that Joe Bob Six-pack can't afford them. Hence, why I mentioned them.

Last weekend, just for kicks, I changed out my StraightWire interconnects for a pair of Phoenix Gold QLX Twisted pair cables (a gift from a good friend in St.Louis), Anyway, I couldn't believe what happened. I know, your all thinking you cannot hear a difference in cable, but I dont think that's true. My stage is a bit wider with the phoenix cable. Overall sound is just a tad less "shimmery" than with the straightwire interconnect, but that is something I can live with, considering the help this cable is to my stage. Not only wider, but it seems a bit deeper and taller too...
