IN my extended cab truck, with just the speakers in the kicks playing I have a solid center soundstage. But I like to have a little rear-fill to provide ambience. So when I hook the rear speakers up I turn them down and bandpass them. And I lose the stage Its all either left or right no center. If I run the rear speakers mono will it help any? I'd like to know before I start taking things apart.

Well what about adding resistence to the rear speakers so they play BUT just barely play.

Ok, try this. This is basically a surround decoder trick a EE friend of mine told me about. If you take your 2 rear speakers, and wire both of the negatives together, then wire each positive to the R+ and L+ out of your amp or head unit, and put an L-pad on it, you will "uncode" the out of phase signal from the stereo channels (surround information is encoded this way, not Dolby, but... )

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...
I like both above suggestions. I have a BII, which is an Extenda-cab Ranger with extra cargo room and no bed . I've had similar problems, however, what I did was get the signal to be focused over my head and to the front just a little. The speakers are 3.5 on the dash and 5x7s just behind my lats over the rear seats. I have the Rears playing slightly louder on the fader (Rear=3 or 4 out of 15) but the 3.5s are brighter, so it balances out right inbetween the mid-thigh of the front seats at head height. Make sense? Sorry, been working too long and can't tell if I'm making sense or gibberish.
You could get a 50x2 amp, run it to your doors/kicks and then run the rears off of your deck. Then the power factor would play a roll, it works rather well in stage audio doing this to get sound under an audience .
Much luck!!

First, I think the above solutions are the best way to go, butI had a similar problem in a firebird years ago and solved it by experimenting with summed L+R mono and differance L-R mono. If I remember correctly, I used the summed L+R and bandpassed them from 250-3k Hz. Hope this helps.
