Right now my system is this, pioneer d3 in the dash, eclipse 3 ways in the doors running passive, 1 4 channel amp with 2 channels bridged to each door.
What I'm considering...
I miss the time alignment of my old sony in dash, but I always felt like it kind of lacked some degree of control because you were unable to adjust the time alignment while music was playing. Had to turn it off to get into the options.
I'm looking at a Zapco dsp6 or something similar, not sure if the zapco has a decent eq built into it?
Also on running active, I could just simply add a 2 channel amp plus my 4 channel to go active correct?
Are there any processors that have active crossovers + time alignment?
I've never ran anything like this before and I'm looking for any help I can get!
If anyone is in the area that wants to help out I'll gladly pay for some consulting time and for any time you spend tuning and helping me get everything setup

The DSP6 is a nice processor. It has the ability to do 3 way crosssovers and 10 bands of parametric EQ on each output channel. If you need more than 6 sets of outputs, you can use another DSP6 and control both from the same DRC. Or, you could do all Zapco DCReference amps, and they would have the same processing power built in.
Alpine H701 can do 4 way XOs, TA, EQ, etc. Very popular piece of equipment.
Pioneer P9 combo is also a nice setup.

well I already have the d3 and would like to keep it if at all possible, mainly because of the navigation without having to have a blackbird.
I might be confused a little bit here...the 701 is the processor correct? and the 702 is the head unit? Is it possible to use the 701 with a stand alone controller instead of the head unit?
hmmm I could go with a DSP 6 and run active on the 3 ways then? And just use the 4 channel + a 2 channel amp, as long as there is 6 channels of amplifiers available right?
I have only seen a DSP 6 in one or two cars and I havn't really had a chance to see what it is up close
If it was yours what would you recommend?

thought about the Rockford 3SIXTY.2?? time alignment and up to 31band eq per channel for the fronts, 27band for the back and center, 10band sub, 5volt linedriver, full 4way crossovers, master and sub volume control...all done via bluetooth on a PDA, phone, or laptop

You can use the 701 with any HU. It has a controller to adjust all of its features. It is best to use with a digital in, but you can use RCA ins on it.
DSP6 is nice. You need a laptop to tune it properly though. If you are good with tuning with a laptop it is an option.

thats the thing, I've never tuned with a laptop, or tuned with a controller for that matter!
I'm needing to be able to take this to someone to get it dialed in properly

The Alpine is nice. Like the DSP6, you can use the controller to tune with. But a laptop sure makes things easier.
I was playing around with my DSP6 in the house months ago using the controller...it took a while to get used to, but it's not bad to use. But the Alpine controller is easier to use.
Andy talks to Cook on occasion and has been to his shows...maybe sweet talk him into lending a hand.
Or come to a large show, and I'm sure there will be someone there that could be glad to pitch in and help tune. MECA offers clinics before the shows and the judge basically judges the car and tells you what needs he/she thinks should be made.

I would not do the Zapco unit myself. I had a number of hours on it, even after getting used to it and didn't find it was as great as expected. I would def get the 701.

i was looking at the "ural concert" headunit amazing piece its from russia and does a ton of stuff to bad you want to keep the deck you have cuz it dont do nav or video its strictly a sq style tuning monster
look here: http://www.cdd.ru/ i found a used one for 500-550 but......i was a bit worried if it ever went bad or they went out of business so i bought the alpine 9887 and the imprint box instead actually cost quite a bit more altogether but i can warranty it no prob if i have to
