hey guys. heres the deal

as of now my setup is an old XXX 15 on a orion 2500D in a 4 cu ported box tuned to about 33hz. all in a 98 honda accord.

now i want to get rid of all the wieght and get some space in my trunk back so i want to do a more SQ oriented setup.

i have decided that 2 8s will sound very nice. but my question now is what 2 8's and what sq amp??

as of now i am stuck btwn 2 treo 8ssi or 2 8w7s. i was looking at the alpine pdx 1.1000 for the amp.

my budget is about 800 for the subs, amp, and box.

my goal is to still be loud to the ear(NOT ON THE METER i don't give a crap about spl) but sound great.

i think thats all there is about me. now its yalls turn. plz give me any suggestions you can!

thanx

i build sq cars everyday... lol.. well almost..

the w7 JL Audio line of subwoofers are amounst the best ever.. if not.. THE BEST.. cant go wrong there.. try 1 x 10w7

Amplifer wise.. since boot space is your aim..
id go with the JL Audio 500/5 Amplifer.. that way your whole system is runnng off one amplifer.. Uses much less battery power.. honda's use the smallest baterys ever!!

Anyway.. post sum pics, it all depends on how much boot space you wana give up.. even for your amplifer racks and capacitors and stuff

two 3ohm coils on a pdx amp wouldn't be ideal...unless you planned on running it at 6ohm. they don't sound great running below rated impedance

you could always try jl's new HD750/1 and an HD600/4. Those new JL HD series amps sound fantastic, especially when ran at 4ohm

ok i like the idea of getting a 5 ch that will run everything.

what do you guys think about refurbished amps??

i can get one very cheap but whats the down side?? it comes with a 14 day money back guarantee and a 1 year warranty so if something goes wrong its covered.

heres the link

i think i would pass on a refurbished USAmp

you said SQ, then you're looking cheap. those don't go together.

well i wasn't looking cheap. i found cheap.

usamps is good stuff with great sq so it my a been worth it.

i think i will just get a pdx 1.600 or 1.1000, depending on the subs. i hear the pdx has decent sq.

i haven't got any other suggestions on subs so im still stuck with w7 and treo. as of now w7s are winning.

i looked at the jl hds and they are super hard to find. then the ones that are there are $700 bucks.

i like the look of em and the specs look real clean.

The pdx's are good amps. you can use them. regardless of what amp, you want power. SQ does not mean low power. You want power to handle transients. I have right at 4000 watts in my SQ system. Only 1000 on the subs.

Fi Q's are great subs. they have great output, but sound very good also. All in the enclosure you build.

which HD model was $700bucks? THe 600/4 is $899. Anyone selling it for less than that should be in trouble.
