Audiophyle, I read in the other post about slot loading, and I have a few questions. This sound a little like a bandpass box, but not really, am I on the right track?

1) You said that the subs fire down at the floor of the trunk and from what I understood you built an extention on to the box that is 2.5 inches. So you cant actually see the subs?

2) Do the subs need to be fired down, what if the subs fire at the back of the car, but the opening for the slot is on top of the box?

3) Can the box be square (rectangular) or does it need to be a wedge shape?

I am really curious about this box design because it opens so many new options for my install. Is this a good SQ design?

The box can be any shape you desire. As to which direction the subs are aimed at, just try doing some experimentation. In my car, it just worked better for me to fire them down, then open the slot to the rear of the car. Your's may work better firing the subs rearward, then opening the slot toward the window. Yes, in my car, if I had a mirror inside the slot, you could see the woofers.

I have also seen this done by taking a piece of MDF of other wood cutting it big enough to be bigger then the driver in question. Well then you take this wood and have smaller pieces of wood like square feet or something like that and have them screwed or affixed to the box...Then place this piece of wood on then so it sits a few inches above the sub.

Does this make sense or did I screw up the explanation?

No, that makes sense, to me anyway. Slot loading, I guess can be anything that loads artifically loads the woofer. I once saw an install for a porsche (I think it belonged to Drew Bledsoe) that had some slot loaded SS SPL 15's.
